This Umbro Schalke 04 home shirt comes from the 2020-21 season. The royal-blue base is framed by a white crew-neck collar carrying twin blue stripes, with matching blue cuffs finished by twin white bands. Umbro branding, the Schalke crest and the Gazprom sponsor complete the front. Its traditional colour scheme contrasts with the extremely difficult campaign the team experienced on the pitch.

Schalke finished bottom of the Bundesliga and were relegated for the first time since 1988. The club went through five head coaches during the season and ended a 30-match winless league run by beating Hoffenheim 4-0 in January 2021. Matthew Hoppe scored a hat-trick in that victory, becoming the first American to record a Bundesliga hat-trick. Despite that breakthrough, Schalke collected only 16 points and dropped into the second tier.
