This Adidas Ajax away shirt from the 2005-06 season features a navy base with white side and underarm panels, white shoulder stripes and red trim at the V-neck and cuffs. ABN AMRO sponsorship runs vertically down the front, echoing the unusual placement used on Ajax shirts of the period.

Ajax reached the UEFA Champions League round of 16 and met Inter. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar headed Ajax ahead on his Champions League debut as the first leg finished 2-2 in Amsterdam. Inter then won 1-0 in Milan through Dejan Stanković and advanced 3-2 on aggregate. Huntelaar had arrived from Heerenveen before making his first Champions League appearance in this tie.
