The 2019-20 Dutch season ended early because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ajax stood first on goal difference after 25 matches, level on points with AZ, but the KNVB did not award the Eredivisie title. Ajax finished third in a difficult Champions League group before Getafe eliminated the club in the Europa League round of 32. No league champion was declared for the interrupted campaign.
