Umbro produced this Republic of Ireland training shirt for the 2005-06 international period. The dark-green body has lighter green panels running from the shoulders down the sides, with white piping following their edges. A white Umbro mark sits opposite the Ireland crest, while the short zip collar and long sleeves give the piece a clear training-wear construction.

Ireland’s 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign ended in Dublin with a 0-0 draw against Switzerland. That result left France as the group winner and Switzerland in the play-offs, while Ireland were eliminated. A month earlier, Thierry Henry had scored the only goal in France’s 1-0 victory at Lansdowne Road. Those two home qualifiers shaped the closing phase of the international cycle represented by this training top.
