Nike's Manchester United home shirt for 2011-12 uses the club's traditional red with a black crew neck edged in white and coordinated trim at the cuffs. The Manchester United crest and Nike Swoosh sit above the Aon sponsor, while Javier Hernández's familiar Chicharito number 14 nameset appears on the back. A club devil detail appears at the back of the black-and-white neckline.

Manchester United finished level with Manchester City on 89 points but lost the Premier League title on goal difference. Hernández scored ten league goals in 28 appearances, including the winner at Everton and a goal in the 8-2 victory over Arsenal. Across all competitions he registered 12 goals in his second United season.
