Sparta's 2011-12 campaign combined a Czech league title challenge with UEFA Europa League qualifying. The Prague club defeated Sarajevo over two legs in the third qualifying round before facing Vaslui in the play-offs. A 2-0 defeat in Romania and a 1-0 home victory left Sparta eliminated 2-1 on aggregate. Kadlec belonged to Sparta's senior attacking group during this period.
